Way to visualize the nested topics

Just a random thought - can we have some sort of visual way to see or even navigate nested topics? I feel if they go too deep, it’s a bit difficult to keep track of.

Ideally, if we type well and have clearly formed thoughts and structure, it should not be an issue. However, on a client call for e.g., you don’t have much time and just write somewhere like a scratchpad. Hunting for what we knew we wrote somewhere is a bit rough sometimes.

Maybe just a list or flowchart like view also will do - which clearly shows nested topics and no. of tasks done in each.

Often the best ideas come out of random thoughts!

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, by nested topics, are you referring to how you can make one topic the child of another (i.e., by making it an item in a checklist on the parent)?

It sounds like you have parent/child nesting that goes many layers deep. How many layers do you have? Flat lets you create as many layers as you like, but in practice I think 3 or less tends to work best.

Also, can you share a little more insight about what you do during a client call? It sounds like you might be trying to create all the topics/tasks/nesting live on the call?

Yea, that’s exactly what went out of hand. I found my self clicking more than 3 levels deep, which is fine - just that it’s a bit difficult to follow, even with the breadcrumbs, as I have to back and forth anyway.

That’s where I got this thought. Even if it’s an expanded view of the breadcrumbs & their ‘branches’ - it should suffice, I guess.

Gotcha. It sounds like when you’re looking at a topic that’s 3+ levels deep, the breadcrumb links at the top of the topic page aren’t doing a good enough job orienting you, because the breadcrumbs show the path only to that single leaf. Without some additional context (like some depiction of other branches or the broader graph), you don’t get as immediate and confident a sense of “where you are”. Is that a fair understanding?

Out of curiosity, when you navigate up and down the layers, do you find yourself using those breadcrumbs, or do you navigate in a different way?

Yes, you got it right!
No, I tend to click through child tasks & look at breadcrumbs only to go back or get a sense of how I got here.
Then I go back and dive into the other child topics - the back & forth kinda continues till I piece together the picture again in my mind.

Thanks that’s helpful!

I’ve taken a look at your account to put myself in your shoes and get a better feel of what you’re experiencing. Is the tree starting at “Create Scheduler UI” a good example, or is there another one I should look at?
